🩺 Empowering Nurses to Thrive 🩺

"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter." – Mark Twain

🌟Embracing Change🌟

I'm Deanna Boyce, RN- Certified Health & Career Coach for nurses. I am the owner and founder of COACHING PRN. After 23+ years I retired from my nurse manager position to create my coaching business dedicated exclusively to supporting nurses. I am passionate about helping nurses manage stress, combat fatigue, improve career satisfaction, and above all....AVOID BURNOUT!🔥

I quite bedside in Feb 2021 to start my own business. It was NOT an easy decision. I knew it would take time to go through the certification program, set up the business side of things, and I also had to deal the whole insurance thing. Wow, was that an eye opener. It's crazy that our insurance is attached to our jobs and not the person. It's ridiculously expensive and doesn't cover much, but it's one of the pitfalls of being an entrepreneur I guess. And of course, this is the time when I start needing to use it the most. 😕

🫢 I hate to say it (but iykyk), your 50's are when things start to go a little haywire. If you're lucky it's not too serious, but it seems to be one thing after another. I do all the things to try and stay healthy and injury free- but it's life I guess. I knew that bedside was not going to be in my future much longer, especially with 3 herniated discs.

I don't want anyone taking offense; I am NOT saying you are old after 50 or can't continue with a physically demanding job. Not at all! But not everyone is in that boat. Especially considering the injury rate with nurses being so high. In 2018 nurses experienced a higher incidence of work injury and illness than all other occupations! (article here)

While nursing certainly has it's pro's and con's, one of the BEST things about nursing are the large number of settings we can work in! I can't think of any other career choice that has SO MANY OPTIONS, can you?

Even if you are a younger nurse it's never too late to start thinking about those later years....they come much faster than you think they will! And some of your options will require additional education or certifications, so it's a good idea to at least be thinking about it. I wrote this FREE e-book especially with you in mind- 👉 get it HERE.

If you ARE starting to seriously consider transitioning into another role, there are things to start thinking about now. It's time to start asking yourself all the hard questions.....

  1. What do I want?
  2. Do I want full time, part time, perdiem?
  3. Do I need to buy insurance or can i be added to a partners?
  4. Where do I see myself in 5 years?
  5. What are my non-negotiables?
  6. What are the pro's/con's of my current job?
  7. and the most important....What will BRING ME JOY??? Because if you don't enjoy what you are doing, there isn't much point in doing it.
