🌞 🌸 SPRING HAS SPRUNG! Maybe it's because of the Spring season, or because of so many changes in my own life, but the theme of CHANGE is on my mind a lot these days!
CHANGE is inevitable; but GROWTH? I don't think that is necessarily inevitable. Some people get swept up in the tide of change in their lives and just go where ever the flow takes them. They also tend to avoid solving the issues at hand, instead they just repeatedly complaining about it like a broken record year after year. But I believe personal growth takes insight and ACTION on our part.
Honestly, the #1 obstacle to change is actually FEAR.
Fear of the unknown. Fear of failing. Maybe even fear of succeeding.
I heard a quote in my coaching program that I didn't understand at first, but then it became clear as a bell.
"FEAR IS EXCITEMENT ON PAUSE".
Facing change can be like trying to hug a porcupine—uncomfortable and a little scary. But you can do it! Here are some tips to help you push through fear during times of change:
1️⃣ Acknowledge the Fear
Ignoring fear doesn’t make it go away. Name it. Own it. Then remind yourself that fear is just a sign that you’re stepping into something new, not necessarily something bad.
2️⃣ Break It Down
Big changes can feel overwhelming. Instead of focusing on the whole mountain, take it step by step. What’s one small action you can take today?
3️⃣ Reframe Your Thoughts
Instead of “What if I fail?” try “What if I succeed?” or “What will I learn?” Your brain believes what you tell it—so choose an empowering narrative!
4️⃣ Breathe & Be Present
When fear kicks in, your body tenses up. Practice deep breathing (inhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec, exhale 4 sec) to calm your nervous system. Staying in the present moment keeps fear from running wild.
5️⃣ Find Your Support System
You don’t have to do it alone! Talk to a friend, mentor, or coach (wink 😉) who can help you see things from a different perspective.
6️⃣ Visualize the Best-Case Scenario
Your brain often jumps to worst-case scenarios. (and honestly the worst case scenario rarely ever happens!) Flip the script—what does success look like? Imagine yourself thriving in the new situation.
7️⃣ Remember Past Wins
You’ve faced change before, and you survived. Remind yourself of past moments when you adapted and grew. You are way stronger than you think!
8️⃣ Take Action Anyway
Courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s taking action despite it. The more you do, the less scary it becomes. Progress, not perfection!
💡 Final Thought: Fear is just excitement without breath. So, take a deep breath, step forward, and trust yourself. You’ve got this! 💪✨
What change are you facing right now? I’m happy to help you strategize! 😊
